Care That Stays in Tooele Valley
For a long time, getting real mental health care in Tooele County meant getting on I-80 and driving forty five minutes each way to Salt Lake, then doing it again next week. That commute is the reason a lot of people in this valley never started therapy at all, or stopped after three sessions.
Graceful Growth Clinic exists so you do not have to make that drive. We are a private practice on Vine Street in downtown Tooele offering clinical mental health counseling, evidence based therapy, and holistic therapy under one roof. Our counselors live here. They shop at the same grocery store, sit in the same church pews, and watch the same Oquirrh Mountains change color in October.
A mental health counselor who understands shift work at the Tooele Army Depot, deployment cycles out of Dugway, the pressure of a tight knit community where privacy feels thin, and what a faith transition costs a family in this county is going to be more useful to you than a stranger reading from a script. We are not an online therapy platform matching you with whoever is available. We are your neighbors.
Beyond a Diagnosis
Graceful Growth Clinic was founded by Miriam Buell, LCMHC, a clinical mental health counselor with deep roots in Tooele and years of experience supporting military families. She built the practice around one belief: that people are not their diagnosis, and that good mental health counseling helps clients rediscover choice, hope, and possibility beyond a label. Everything here is built to support mind, body, and spirit together.
- Miriam Buell, LCMHC, founder, EMDR certified, ketamine assisted psychotherapy, military families
- Kellie Korth, CSW, teen and LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, EMDR, faith transitions
- Lara Curtis, CSW, play therapy, family systems, neurodiversity affirming care
- Cari Davis, CSW, EMDR and couples work, evening and weekend availability
- Lindsey Wilson, CSW, primary ketamine integration therapist, ACT, IFS, narrative therapy
- Stayce Jensen, ACMHC, trauma, PTSD, and women's issues
- Hannah Garcia, holistic health practitioner, reiki, breathwork, meditation, sound healing
- Mike Buell, office manager, scheduling, insurance verification, and billing
A social worker, a professional counselor, and a holistic practitioner see the same person differently, and that is a feature rather than a problem. When your care is complicated, we can consult down the hall instead of referring you across the valley. Our clinicians practice within the ethical standards that guide the profession nationally, including the codes maintained by the American Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association. Affirming, inclusive care is not a marketing line here. Everyone in Tooele County deserves competent mental health support regardless of who they are, what they believe now, or what they used to believe.
Mental Health Counseling Services in Tooele
Our mental health services cover children from age three, teens, adults, couples, and families. Whatever brought you here, the first step is the same. You tell us what is going on, and we build a treatment plan around it together.
Individual Counseling, Ages 3+
One on one therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and the kind of low grade heaviness that does not have a name yet.
Couples Therapy
Structured work on communication, conflict, trust, and repair. Useful whether you are in crisis or just tired of the same argument.
Family and Parenting Support
Family conflict, parenting struggles, blended family friction, and adjustment after divorce, held as a whole system.
EMDR Therapy
One of the most researched treatments for trauma and PTSD. It reduces the charge traumatic memories carry, often faster than talk therapy alone.
CBT and Other Approaches
Cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, internal family systems, narrative and existential work, matched to you.
Trauma and PTSD Care
Childhood trauma, traumatic grief, spiritual and religious trauma, faith transitions, and veteran and military family concerns.
What we treat: anxiety, depression and mood disorders, PTSD and childhood trauma, traumatic grief, relationship issues and divorce, postpartum concerns, spiritual and religious trauma, faith transitions, veteran and military family concerns, family conflict, parenting stress, and suicidal ideation.
If you are living with a mental health condition and have been told that management is the ceiling, we would like a word. Mental illness responds to good treatment. So do the mental health concerns that never rise to a diagnosis at all.
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
For some clients, depression, PTSD, and anxiety hold on through multiple rounds of therapy and medication. Ketamine assisted psychotherapy is designed for exactly that situation.
Oral ketamine is administered in our office with a therapist present for the entire session and integration work beginning immediately afterward. That last part is what separates this from a ketamine infusion clinic. The medicine opens a window, and the therapy is what you do with it. Lindsey Wilson, CSW, is our primary ketamine integration therapist, and Miriam Buell holds ketamine assisted therapy credentials through PRATI.
This is one of the very few places in Tooele County offering this treatment. Every candidate is screened carefully, and it is not the right fit for everyone. We will tell you honestly if it is not.
Held the Whole Way Through
Your therapist stays with you for the session and starts integration the same hour, not next week.
Holistic Therapy and Holistic Health Services
Tooele has never had much holistic mental health care of its own. For years, anyone who wanted holistic therapies alongside professional counseling drove to Salt Lake for one and stayed local for the other, then tried to hold both in mind with nobody coordinating between them. We built our holistic mental health program to close that gap.
Holistic therapy means treating the mind and the body as one system rather than two. Our holistic practice is focused and intentional rather than a menu of everything. Hannah Garcia, our holistic health practitioner, offers four holistic therapies.
Reiki
A gentle, hands on wellness practice that supports relaxation and nervous system regulation, often used when talk therapy alone leaves the body still holding tension.
Sound Healing
Tuned instruments and vibration used to move the nervous system out of high alert. Clients describe the first real quiet their mind has had in months.
Guided Meditation
Mindfulness meditation for people convinced they cannot meditate. A steady practice builds self awareness and emotional balance that lasts past the session.
Breathwork
Intentional breathing drawn from somatic, body based approaches. The fastest tool we know for getting a spiraling mind back under your own control.
How Holistic and Clinical Care Fit Together
You can book holistic health services on their own, or pair them with counseling. Clients working through trauma often find the combination moves faster than either one alone, because emotional healing happens in the body as much as it happens in conversation. That is what a comprehensive approach to mental health treatment looks like in practice: clinical therapy and alternative therapies in the same building, coordinated by people who talk to each other.
Holistic mental health treatment is not a replacement for clinical care. Our holistic counseling supports treatment, it does not substitute for it, and any honest holistic therapist will tell you the same. Healing is not one thing, and no single method owns it.
Most holistic practitioners in Utah work entirely outside of clinical settings. Ours works inside one. That is the difference between holistic practices bolted onto a wellness brand and a real holistic approach to mental health built into how a clinic runs.
A note on expectations. Holistic therapies are not magic, and we will never sell them to you that way. Reiki will not resolve a trauma history on its own, and one breathwork session will not undo a decade of anxiety. What a holistic approach does well is give your body a way to participate in the work, and make the healing feel like something you are doing rather than something being done to you.
Cost Should Not Be the Reason You Wait

Tricare coverage matters in this county. Between Dugway Proving Ground, the Tooele Army Depot, and Utah National Guard families across the valley, a lot of our clients are military connected, and we know how to work with those benefits. Not sure what your plan covers? Call (385) 409-0363 and we will verify it for you. If cost is still a barrier, ask us anyway. We can point you toward financial aid, sliding scale options, and human services programs in Tooele County that clients often do not know exist.
Four Steps, No Mystery
1. Reach Out
Call, text, or email. A person from Tooele answers, not a call center in another state.
2. Get Matched
We pair you with the clinician who fits. If someone else is a better match three sessions in, we say so.
3. Build the Plan
Your first session covers history and goals. You and your therapist leave with a plan you both agree on.
4. Do the Work
Weekly or biweekly sessions, adjusted as things change. Progress is rarely a straight line, and that is normal.
Appointments run Monday through Thursday, 9 AM to 7 PM, with availability seven days a week by arrangement. Evening and weekend slots exist for clients who commute out of the valley for work.
If You Need Help Right Now
If you or someone you love is in immediate danger, do not wait for an appointment. Call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, free and confidential 24 hours a day. In an emergency, call 911.
Suicide prevention and crisis intervention are not side concerns in a rural county like ours. Several of our clinicians work directly with suicidal ideation, and once you are stable, ongoing counseling is what keeps you there. If you need mental health resources in Tooele County and are not sure where to start, call us and we will help you find the right door even if it is not ours.
Questions People Ask Us
Not at this time. Our services are individual counseling, couples, and family work. If group therapy is what you need, tell us and we will refer you to a group in the area that fits.
We do not provide addiction counseling or substance abuse treatment as a specialty. Many clients come to us for the anxiety, depression, or trauma underneath, and we coordinate with substance use programs when someone needs both.
We are an in person practice, and we think that is a strength for this community. Ask us about telehealth options if travel is a genuine barrier.
Both are licensed mental health professionals qualified to provide psychological services and therapy. A clinical mental health counselor, called a licensed professional counselor in some states, trains primarily in counseling and mental wellness. A clinical social worker trains with more emphasis on systems and environment. Our team includes both, which is deliberate.
It depends on what you bring in and what you want. Some clients come for eight sessions around a specific problem. Others stay for years. Both are legitimate uses of counseling.
No. Plenty of clients arrive with mental health issues that have no label, or just a sense that something is off. That is enough.
